Taking advantage of this great fall weather, you should really get out and enjoy some peaceful fishing on our local waters. Both the Logan and the Blacksmith are running clear and low but very fishable. The Logan will see more traffic than the Blacksmith but with the majority of Logan Canyon open to the public, finding a spot is not hard. Especially right now, the crowds really are not bad anywhere. With the cold front coming in next week, who knows what the fishing will be like so get out and go now!
The Logan is fishing well with all types of euro nymphs if thats your game. Streamers have been working well, Steve worked a few runs with our new euro bugger and worked out some fish. Dont be to shy to tie on a glo bug (egg pattern) either.
The Blacksmith is fishing spectacular. I've had some good days lately that remind me of it's hay day when I was a teen. The browns are spawning, so again watch for cleared rock/gravel beds and dont walk through these areas. There has been some awesome BWO hatches happening between 2:00 and 5:00 it seems. Any small midge adult or small BWO adult pattern will get you some fish. It does help to find active feeding fish. Look for back eddies and soft edges of run or along the bank. Nymphing has be the go to though and right now small nymphs that resemble BWO's and little stones have been key. Pink bead headed nymphs have worked well (most likely fish think its an egg!)
